STREET SKATE AREA - CONTESTS AND OPEN SKATE
The Street Contest will be held in an area adjacent to the skatepark. All skaters are welcome to have fun and participate, no charge, with prizes going to the winners of each event.This event is open to everyone - all ages.
HIGHEST OLLIE
The winner simply has to do the highest ollie. The contest will start with basic low ollie (one deck high) and get increassingly higher (two decks, three decks, four decks, etc) - if you don't make the ollie (only get one try) - you are eliminated. This progresses until only the winners remain.
This event is open to everyone - all ages.
LONGEST MANUAL
All contestants will get one shot at doing their longest manual - we have a 200 foot long area. The skater with the longest manual will be the leader until they are eliminated and replaced by a skater that does a longer manual.
OPEN SKATE
To allow all skaters that come out to SK8 Del Sol to have fun and particiapate in the day of skate, there will be an Open Skate Area for use by all skaters, for free.
The Open Skate Area will be available from 10AM until 6PM.
The area, right now, that we are planning to use is the sidewalk and part of the roadway that is to the southwest of the skatepark. You will see it when you get there, it will cover a pretty good size area.
There will be roughly 200 ft of sidewalk (using this as it is the smoothest surface outside of the skate park) and a 70 x 30 foot section of the roadway/parking lot set aside for street skate area - so y-all gonna have plenty of room.
The Open Skate Area will contain a several rails, some boxes of different heights, a kicker or two or three and three quarter-pipes scattered here and there.
As usual we expect all skaters to show their normal sk8park manners and:
- Take turns, do not get pushie or jump lines
- Watch out for the little guys
- When you are done or bomb out - get out of the way
- Watch the language
And it would be a good idea to wear a helmet - the concrete here is just as hard as anywhere else.
